Why Should I Worry
Natasha Josefowitz

The young people don't worry when they..,

don't remember
their best friend's name,

lose their car keys twice a week,
can't find their wallets,
misplace their glasses,

walk into a room and don't know
what it was they were looking for,

forget their own phone number,

can't think of a common word
they use every day,

can't recall what they just read
or what someone just said,

lose the list they wrote of
things to remember.

The young people just shrug their shoulders,
but people my age
think they have Alzheimer's disease.
